Fintech lender Sibaya reports first profitable quarter

The SME credit provider said improving collections and lower acquisition costs drove the result.

Sibaya, an SME credit provider, reported its first profitable quarter in a shareholder update published this week.

The company said the result was driven by improving collections and a reduction in customer acquisition costs. According to the update, its loan book grew 22% over the past year.

Sibaya said it expects to remain profitable through the balance of the financial year, while cautioning that credit conditions for small businesses remain uneven.
