Data centre operator commits R2.1bn to Western Cape expansion

The build will add 30MW of capacity in phases through to 2029, the company said.

A Johannesburg-based data centre operator said this week it will invest R2.1bn to expand its Western Cape campus, adding 30MW of capacity in phases through to 2029.

According to the company, the first phase will come online in late 2027. It said the expansion responds to demand from cloud and AI workloads.

The company said the facility will be supplied under a renewable power agreement, with grid supply as backup.
