Residential building plans passed rose for a third consecutive quarter, according to figures published this week.
The increase was led by approvals for townhouses and flats, while plans for freestanding houses were broadly flat. Approvals remain below the levels recorded before the pandemic, the figures show.
According to the data, the Western Cape accounted for the largest share of approved square metreage.
